The position

Reporting to the Director, Research, Innovation & Quality, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading a robust and reliable Quality Assurance and Control team by implementing clearly defined policies and procedures designed to ensure the highest quality for all products manufactured at Rocky Mountain Soap Co.

This position works Monday through Friday from our workshop in Canmore, Alberta. 

What you'll be doing

  • Manage Quality continuous improvement initiatives, including product and manufacturing process improvements
  • Create and maintain accurate QA records for all formulas, physical testing, and specifications as per NHP/GMP/GLP requirements 
  • Create and review technical documents to support product development projects
  • Ensure adherence to GMP processes
  • Approve, release, and communicate raw materials, bulk and finished goods 
  • Request and retrieve technical information to assist in resolving quality issues as necessary
  • Plan and direct activities concerned with the application and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes
  • Ensure standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation are being followed accordingly
  • Ensure timely completion of investigation of Out-Of-Specification production and initiate root cause/corrective and preventative actions to ensure compliance with quality requirements
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality of safety concerns
  • Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with cosmetic regulations globally (e.g. Health Canada, US FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulation)
  • Oversee the regulatory submission process for new product registrations or notifications, including compiling and submitting necessary documentation to regulatory authorities 
  • Review and approve product labels, packaging, and promotional materials to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements 
  • Assess the safety, efficacy, and regulatory status of cosmetic ingredients to ensure compliance
  • Represent the company during regulatory inspections and audits 
  • Other duties as assigned

Does this sound like you?

  • Accredited Educational background in Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharma, Biology), or another quality related field
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience working in the fields of Pharma, Cosmetics, or Natural Health Products
  • In depth knowledge and experience with cosmetic/NNHPD Health Canada regulations
  • Experience leading teams towards GMP best practices  
  • Must be able to work in a highly scented environment
